Redesigning a Book Cover

We all judge a book by its cover, even though we ought not to. Yet, in the design field, judging a book by its cover is, in my opinion, acceptable. Because if the design doesn’t complement the content, contribute to the purpose, or communicate its message properly, then what is its use? Therefore, I believe we are to judge good or bad designs for the right reason: to make them better. I had to do that with this project; judge a book cover and redesign it to better communicate its message. I chose the Kook & Geniet Cookbook, as I grew up with this amazing book with its ugly, outdated cover, which definitely doesn’t compliment the food.
